October RoundTable

Counseling Veterans in the Current Recession
This session will explore the challenges of providing services to a wide variety of veterans who have served in wars, conflicts and in peacetime. Who are these veterans, what are their career needs and how is this population changing? What local, State and National resources are available to assist us? Discussion will be facilitated by Carol Ellingsberg, Vocational Counselor, Minneapolis VA Health Care System.

Returning Vets Face Challenges in Job Search

Having skills that employers want and knowing how to effectively present those skills during a job search are two different things. Veterans often have difficulty describing how their military experience matches with civilian jobs.

Taking Advantage of Military Service in a Civilian Career

Veterans do have resources at their disposal, if they know how to use them. It is up to veterans, as it is every job seeker, to take ownership of their career and job search. In fact, veterans have the benefit of documented military success and a wide range of experiences that can help make their career transition smoother.
