MCDA is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 MCDA Mentor Program
This 10+-year-old program offers a valuable opportunity to gain in-depth career development knowledge, improve skills, build confidence, expand professional networks, and build long-lasting relationships.
Program timing: November 2023 – April 2024
Registration Deadline: Monday, October 16, 2022
Program Kick-Off, Virtual Event: Monday, October 30, 2023
- If you are successfully paired, we invite you both to participate in a ZOOM Kick-Off event where we will review the structure of our mentoring program, answer any questions you may have, and provide time for you to connect with your mentor/mentee in a Zoom break-out room.
The program is FREE to MCDA members.
- If you’re not already a member, please do join! The student rate is only $35 annually – and it offers many benefits. Visit http://mcda.net/become-a-member-2/ for membership details.
What is a Mentor? A Career professional with at least 5 years’ experience or more.
What is a Mentee? Anyone new to the career development profession, whether graduate student or new professional, or someone that has been given new responsibilities, to include career coaching in their work.
Both of us have been mentors, and from personal experience, we can tell you that it is extremely rewarding to share knowledge gained from years of career client work! Mentees can gain tremendous insights into the nature of career development work, the various settings where we work, and the many ‘tools of the trade’!
Expectations?
- Mentors meet with mentees once per month in any mutually agreeable format – phone, virtual meeting, or in-person meeting.
- There is one Kick-off/Orientation event at the beginning of the program and one Celebration Event at the conclusion (in recent years, this has been included within a general MCDA End-of-Year Social event to facilitate professional networking).
You can access the application form here, https://forms.gle/LKBNH8ZuKW6raY8TA
(You may have most success accessing this on Google Chrome browser.)
Please share this with Career professional veterans and newbies and invite them to join MCDA if they are not already members!
Thank you!
