										Elke joined Goodwill-Easter Seals, MN (GESMN) as a Career Navigator in the Dislocated Worker Program, starting in 2023. She has 15 years’ experience in the education field working with people of various ages, cultures, developmental levels, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Elke taught English to speakers of other languages in Brooklyn, NY prior to moving to St. Paul, MN. This is where she continued to teach then make the transition from teaching into career navigating. The MCDA played a vital role in Elke’s transition. After studying at Normandale College, she was introduced to the MCDA, participated in the Mentor program, and volunteered to assist for various MCDA events. As a result, working with a mentor and networking helped solidify Elke’s position as a Career Navigator and eventually became the present-day MCDA Mentor Program Coordinator. In her new career, Elke appreciates taking part in participants' discovery of their own strengths to successfully pursue and reach their ultimate occupational goals.
Elke earned a B.A., majoring in Metropolitan Studies and a minor in Education as well as a M.A. in Early Childhood & Elementary Education, PreK-6; both degrees are from New York University. Also, Elke studied several non-matriculated courses in the Linguistics department at CUNY Queens College. Elke possesses certifications in Early Childhood & Elementary Education, PreK-6, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, K-12. In addition, Elke successfully completed the Global Career Development Facilitator, GCDF/Certified Career Services Provider, CCSP program at Normandale College and obtained both GCDF and CCSP certifications.
Elke enjoys caring for her dog, Dewey, music, ceramics, comedy, journaling, movies, reading for pleasure, and traveling whenever possible.
