Like it or not, good manners in the workplace are often equated with competence in business. To many, sloppy manners equal lack of ability. In the current competitive global economy, new and seasoned professionals must seize every opportunity to favorably distinguish themselves and their employer from the competition.
Having skills that employers want and knowing how to effectively present those skills during a job search are two different things. Veterans often have difficulty describing how their military experience matches with civilian jobs.
Veterans do have resources at their disposal, if they know how to use them. It is up to veterans, as it is every job seeker, to take ownership of their career and job search. In fact, veterans have the benefit of documented military success and a wide range of experiences that can help make their career transition smoother.
