Moving Clients from “Stuck” to “Action”: Two Approaches for Successful Career Transition
In this Professional Development Institute, Jim Peacock will present two models for helping clients make successful career transitions. First, Jim will take attendees through Schlossberg’s Transition theory and the four factors that affect one’s ability to cope with transition: Situation, Self, Support, and Strategies. He will also introduce the Change and Choice Wheel, which is a tool to coach clients from a place of feeling stuck to moving forward.
Jim will also present “happenstance theory” as a way to coach clients in creating unplanned events to explore and discover new occupations; what Jim calls “intentional serendipity”.
